Welcome! Hexonomica is a game that lives on a hexagonal map of the real world.
Geolocation must be enabled on your device to play — it is an important part of the gameplay.
Walk around the city in real life, open new hexes around you, capture land for your faction, and build structures on your territories.
What you see right after registration
Right after registration you receive a starter pack: a small reserve of energy, an avatar at your location, and the first hexes around it. Open the map and tap an unknown hex to start exploring the space around you.
Three resources you'll meet first
Almost everything in the game revolves around three resources. You can see them on the side panel of the map:
Energy — required to open new hexes. You receive a little energy at the start; later you can accumulate it through movement and the flywheel.
Materia — a resource spent to capture a hex for your faction. It comes in two types — ice or flame — depending on the faction chosen at registration.
Coins — in-game currency for the shop, building, and some finds. Details — in the Economy section.
Factions: Ice and Flame
At registration you choose one of two factions — Ice or Flame.
The faction determines the lands you'll play on, the type of your materia (fire or ice), the army, and which advanced buildings you can ultimately build.
Three basic actions
The beginning of the game is built on one cycle: open new territory, capture it, and then develop it.
Open — spend energy to find out what is on a new hex. You may find coins, a resource, a monster, ore deposits, a quest, or a ready building.
Capture — spend materia to attach land to your faction. Neutral land is cheaper, special or enemy land is more expensive.
Build — turn captured land into a source of resources, defense, or sector points.
What to do in the first minutes
Open several nearby unknown hexes.
Pick up simple finds and look for empty land.
Capture a neutral hex to get a place for building.
Build your first useful structure and watch your energy and materia.
