Mayor and taxes — how the sector economy works

Every week, all residents of the sector pay a tax to the mayor. Here we'll break down how the elections go and how the tax is calculated.

Sector mayor

The mayor is the player with the maximum number of points in the sector. The title grants real power: the mayor receives taxes from the entire sector. You can find out who the current mayor is by the sector icon in the top-left corner of the map. To learn how sectors work and how points are awarded, read the article "Sectors and points".

  • Elections are held every Monday. The server recalculates the rating of all residents of the sector and appoints as mayor the one who scored the most points. The previous mayor is stripped of the title.
  • The tax is paid after the elections. First the new mayor is chosen, and only then is the weekly tax deducted from all residents.

How taxes are calculated

Every week, all residents of the sector pay the mayor a tax on the resources collected in the sector during the week. The rate depends on the mayor's faction:

  • 1% — if the mayor belongs to your faction;
  • 2% — if the mayor is from an enemy faction.

The calculated number of resources is always rounded up, so even the smallest yield is charged as at least 1 unit.

  • 1 resource per week — 1 is charged.
  • 100 resources per week under your own faction's mayor — 1 is charged. (100 × 0.01 = 1 → rounded to 1)
  • 100 resources per week under an enemy faction's mayor — 2 are charged. (100 × 0.02 = 2)

How to become mayor

The mayor is elected every Monday before the tax is paid. To become mayor, you need to have the highest number of points in the sector.
